I got a marketing email from hobbycraft to say that they’re now selling plush pumpkins ahead of halloween

so of course I went to the website, which led me to this delightful photo series showing the different sizes available:

Three photos of the same black man, holding a series of plush pumpkins. The first pumpkin (labelled small) fits within the palm of his hand, and he is looking down delighted by the tiny pumpkin. The second pumpkin (labelled medium) is still hand sized, and he is looking at the camera with a smile. The third pumpkin (labelled large) is balanced on his hand to the side, and he is looking at it in amusementALT
Two more photos of the same man holding larger plush pumpkins. The first (labelled XL) is cradled in both hands in front of his chest, and he is looking down at the pumpkin. The second (labelled XXL) covers about half his chest, and is being held out in front of him with a happy/excited look on his faceALT

I love and support this man and his pumpkin collection

“Think of the two major possibilities here: Either the studios owe untold millions to their talents and paying it out will decimate their stock prices, or they owe so little because there really is no money in streaming and the bubble of their entire 21st century business model will burst in spectacular fashion. And make no mistake: this is a bubble. This is the inevitable climax of a stockholder-driven hunger for infinite growth, despite the fact that, by design, such a thing cannot and should not exist. The infection of Wall Street has overwhelmed the entertainment industry beyond repair, leading to cultural vandals like David Zaslav to be appointed with the callous duty of strip-mining decades’ of artistic beauty for pennies of tax write-offs. The past and future are frivolous in comparison to the short-term demands that the line keep going up.”

feathernotes:

there’s been a few folks talking about the state of webcomics in my last post, particularly how the landscape has changed since webcomics became something bigger corporations could make money off of…. and, well, exploit people to get it.

I want to talk a little more broader on the topic at one point, but yeah, it’s been a tough few years seeing ‘new shiny thing’ and uncovering the rot beneath.

Please support your fellow indie creators however you can- tell your friends about your favourite comics, make posts reccomending them, share your fics, fanart, your fave moments, etc etc. Word of mouth is still one of the most powerful and nebulous ways to support folks!

CHEERS TO GUY WALTON FOR “OUTING” THE FOSSIL FUEL COMPANIES

From the article:

Walton has devised his own criteria for named heatwaves in the US, based on duration and extremity, on a one to five scale similar to hurricanes. Heatwave Chevron is classed as a four and is “historic”, Walton said. The meteorologist said he has a list of 20 oil and gas companies – including Exxon and Shell – for upcoming heatwaves and will turn to coal companies if he runs out of names.
